Perth’s Raine Square opens first stage

Raine Square opens first stage

One of Perth’s most talked about precincts will come to life as Raine Square opens its doors on Monday 17 September and unveils Stage 1 of its $200 million transformation into a late night 7-day a week dining, shopping and entertainment precinct.

Headlined by Palace Cinemas, the Michelin-starred dim sum chain Tim Ho Wan and Coles Central, Raine Square will deliver one of the most extensive, diverse and exciting dining offerings featuring 12 casual dining restaurants, a nine-screen cinema, and a range of speciality stores as part of its Stage 1 launch.

Exciting new comers to broaden the dining offer include Greenhorns, a licenced burger bar; Brezel Brothers, a brand new Swiss pretzel concept store; Voodoo Coffee, the batch roasting experts for the serious coffee connoisseur; Cocolat, an absolute must for those that have a sweet tooth; Thai Thyme, fresh, made-to-order Thai food and Tokyo Station, a daily fix for sushi fans.

Charter Hall’s Head of Office Development Andrew Borger said the Raine Square redevelopment had been in the planning for four years and they were thrilled to see it come to life.

“This is a flagship development for Charter Hall in Perth and has involved a significant investment to plan and build. Situated in the very centre of the CBD, accessed by thousands of commuters, office workers, shoppers and tourists each day, the redeveloped Raine Square will deliver a brand new, world-class retail, dining and entertainment precinct in the heart of the city,” Borger said.

Following a 12-month construction period led by Built, the redeveloped entertainment and dining precinct features a mix of heritage listed elements and contemporary design features to deliver a more connected, accessible and appealing precinct.

“The revitalised design improves connectivity, site mobility and cleverly integrates heritage and contemporary design. There is a mix of new retail, specialty and dining venues and Perth CBD’s only cinema, making Raine Square one of the most unique, CBD-based entertainment and dining precincts,” Borger added.

“On Monday 17 September we open the doors to this new precinct and look forward to welcoming local residents and workers, shoppers, tourists, foodies and movie goers… this is a destination with something to offer everyone and we look forward to sharing that experience.”

Scott Simpson, Co-Owner of Greenhorns said that they had come a long way since starting out as a food stall at the Fremantle Beer Fest in 2016 and would be partnering with Perth’s own Feral Brewing to match with their handcrafted burger menu that would be made onsite daily.

“We are delighted to open our brand new Burger Bar at Raine Square, where we will be serving up only the best handmade dishes, like Baja fish tacos, truffle mushroom burgers, and our famous Mac and cheese croquettes, which promote local fresh WA produce,” Simpson said.

The cinema experience makes its anticipated return to Perth city with Palace Raine Square Cinemas opening nine screens across the top level of the new Raine Square redevelopment, with a further four Platinum screens set to open in October.

Palace Cinemas’ CEO, Benjamin Zeccola, said “We’re excited to unveil Perth’s spectacular new cinema on September 17. With the most comfortable reclining leather seats, the best movies accompanied by bespoke bars and a rooftop terrace, Palace Raine Square is bringing cinema reimagined back to Perth City.”

Through a strategic partnership with the Raine Medical Research Foundation, Charter Hall is able to support a range of initiatives that a make a difference to the local community. During the development, Charter Hall’s key fundraising project is supporting medical research to treat children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders, such as ADHD, learning difficulties, autism and range of communication and motor disorders.

Raine Square

Raine Square’s redevelopment is the outcome of Charter Hall’s commitment to deliver an exceptional, well-considered, seven-day a week late-night, retail, dining and entertainment precinct in the Perth CBD and is being delivered by architects Taylor Robinson Chaney Broderick , and construction partner Built.

Raine Square is bound by Wellington, William, Murray and Queen Streets, with direct tunnel access from Perth Underground Station. Platform access for commuters will open directly into Raine Square from 17 September as part of its Stage 1 Launch.

The precinct’s Stage 2 (Fashion Precinct) is due for completion in December 2018 with an exciting mix of local and international big brand names to be announced in early 2019.
