The Galeries launches limited-edition Light Arc

The Galeries partners with Australian contemporary artist, Elliot Routledge

The Galeries, Sydney will light up this winter as it becomes home to a large-scale sculpture celebrating public art and culture. The limited-edition Light Arc sculpture is the work of Australian contemporary artist, Elliot Routledge. Elliot is best known for his public art installations, paintings and sculptures has exhibited in galleries and installed murals globally, and has cultivated an engaged community on his Instagram @funskull. Elliott has spent much of his time in The Galeries over the years and has always wanted to create a centrepiece that is impactful and meaningful to the precinct’s visitors. 

Centre Manager Kristy Hoare said: “We’re proud to support art in the public space at The Galeries and we’re excited to be a hub of creativity for the Sydney community. The Light Arc Sculpture is on display throughout June and we hope to see it become an exciting meeting place within The Galeries for our customers, retailers and the broader community.”

For even more fun, an interactive game called ArtParts has been designed to accompany the sculpture, where customers can use their smartphones to Scan, Play and Win. With up to $60,000 worth of prizes to be won, customers will be able to find and scan QR codes, unlocking a puzzle featuring Elliot’s artwork. There are 3,000 instant prizes to be won across major brands including; Ttotaler, Grill’d, Books Kinokuniya, plus four major weekly prizes including a $500 Incu voucher, $300 brunch at The Grounds of The City, $500 private dining experience at Lotus Dining and $500 Muji home package.

Elliot Routledge said: “There’s something great about The Galeries as a precinct, with its laneways, shops and restaurants alongside public art. These new works are going to encourage everyone to immerse themselves in the incredible space”.

The activation is about pushing the boundaries and amalgamating art and gamification and will be on offer to customers until the 30 June.
