HomeCo appoints Sid Sharma as COO

HomeCo Braybrook, Victoria

HomeCo have confirmed the appointment of Sid Sharma as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Home Consortium (HomeCo) starting in July 2019. Sid Sharma is well-known to Shopping Centre News readers as the COO of SCA Property Group and contributor to SCN’CEO Outlook, Sharma has been instrumental in SCA’s growth as a dominant player in the convenience-based shopping centre category. Last year, SCN profiled SCA Property Group and its strategy of engaging communities to become the best performing A-REIT in Australia.

The appointment of Sharma is testament to HomeCo’s significant growth plan. In August 2016, HomeCo was formed after Hydrox Holdings Pty Limited acquired the former Masters holding entity. The company was formed by retailers, property developers and financial experts. Since that time, the company has commenced a process of re-purposing its sites into best of brands retail precincts. The portolio of 40 centres comprises of 485,000m2 of retail space across five Australian states. The newly opened HomeCo sites such as Braybrook Centre that opened late last year, have been re-purposed into neighbourhood convenience based centres, housing supermarkets, daily retail needs, services and homewares.

Sharma says “Home Consortium has a retailer & customer first approach. The group is focused on convenient daily needs, lifestyle and home goods. These are all attributes that resonate well with customers in this period of structural shift in retail. I’m excited to be joining the team and building on the work completed to date as the business enters its next phase of growth.”

In his new role at HomeCo, Sharma will lead and direct property activities to ensure delivery of a uniform approach to operational performance across the portfolio, including development of business processes and systems.

Sharma’s extensive experience in retail operations and property at Dexus, Woolworths, Westpac and most recently at SCA Property Group will be valuable in this new role. He will work with all business functions within HomeCo to oversee and manage portfolio performance.

Monaco is an experienced retail leasing specialist and has worked with many of Australia’s leading retail groups including Chemist Warehouse and Super Retail Group.

Kahanoff has more than 15 years leasing experience, including Colonial First State, JLL and most recently with QIC where he spent the last five years.
