Automated retail tenant solution recognised in awarding of 2021 Frank Lowy Fellowship

Elizabeth led a team to develop and deliver several innovative solutions Charter Hall's Retail business

The Shopping Centre Council of Australia (SCCA) has named Elizabeth Craig, Digital Solutions Manager, Charter Hall, as the 2021 winner of the prestigious Frank Lowy Fellowship.

Peter Allen, Chairman of the SCCA and CEO of Scentre Group, said that once again, the Fellowship received a range of nominations which highlighted the innovation and pragmatism rising through the ranks in the shopping centre industry.

“The calibre of young professionals and emerging leaders in our industry is simply outstanding, and clearly points to the fact that the future of our industry is in good hands. We have seen this first hand over the past year as our industry professionals have navigated the pandemic with agility and dedication to their communities, customers, retailers and colleagues”, said Allen.

The Fellowship was established in recognition of the contribution made by Sir Frank Lowy AC to the Australian shopping centre industry. Launched in 2016 on the occasion of Mr Lowy stepping down as Chairman of Scentre Group, the Fellowship is awarded to an emerging leader in the shopping centre industry who has demonstrated distinction in their professional field and a commitment to industry excellence.

“I sincerely congratulate Elizabeth on winning this year’s Frank Lowy Fellowship, which is a reflection of her talent and ambition to build on the foundations that Sir Frank has laid in place.”

Elizabeth led a team to develop and deliver several innovative solutions for the Charter Hall Retail business including a digital platform to automate tenant customer sales collection that solved a number of process pain points and defects within the portfolio.

Elizabeth also developed and delivered a customer-centric national social media strategy to mitigate the disruption caused by COVID-19 across the Charter Hall retail portfolio.

Nominees for the Frank Lowy Fellowship 2021 were evaluated by a judging panel comprised of Peter Allen, Chairman of the SCCA and CEO of Scentre Group, along with other SCCA Directors; Kelly Miller, General Manager – Retail, Mirvac; Greg Chubb, Deputy Chairman of the SCCA and Retail CEO, Charter Hall; Craig Newman, Managing Director, Real Estate, Blackstone Group (Australia) and; Chris Barnett, Head of Retail, The GPT Group.

The Frank Lowy Fellowship is sponsored by Scentre Group and the 2021 winner, Elizabeth Craig, will receive a grant of $20,000 to put towards their continued education.

Elizabeth has proposed in her nomination to undertake an Innovation Through Design Thinking course at The London School of Business and well as a Digital Disruption: Digital Transformation Strategies at the University of Cambridge. Elizabeth will also attend the Disruptive Innovation Summit in Sydney in 2022.

Previous winners include: (2020) Carl Woodward, Group Manager Engineering, Scentre Group; (2019) Dennis Michael, Head of Commercial Brand iQ and New Business, QICGRE; (2018) Genevieve Elliott, General Manager Data Science and Insights Vicinity Centres and; inaugural winner (2017) Sidone Thomas, Head of Digital and Marketing, The GPT Group.
